In the older days, there was Altavista Babelfish, now known as Yahoo Babelfish for translating peices of text or websites from one language to another. It worked for me as i was able to register for an email account at GMX.net - a german portal and an email service provider.

After the recent announcement from Microsoft about their Hotmail/Live accounts becoming OpenID logins, Google also announced today that they are enabling OpenID support for their Gmail accounts. Participating websites can now accept millions of existing Gmail account holders.

Sourceforge now offers hosted applications

Sourceforge.net, the old stalwart offering project management, bugzilla, version control, mailing list and project web space has added another service in its list. The new service will enable sourceforge developers to select a hosted app, and run it on Sourceforge infrastructure. SF sysadmins take care of the rest.
