Manage your todos in Gmail

Posted on | December 10, 2008 |

The guys at Gmail labs never sit idle. This week they launched a much needed feature in Gmail. Now you can manage your Todo list in Gmail itself. For a simple and personal todo list, there’s no need to maintain that spreadsheet or signup for Tadalist.

To start using Gmail’s todo manager, move over to Gmail Settings, go to Labs panel and enable Tasks from there. Creating a new task from emails is easy. Just click on “More Actions > Add to Tasks” and a new task manager window pops up, adding current email’s subject as a new unfinished task. To add a new task, simply press enter. There are several shortcut keys available to make nesting and reordering easy.

While its not as feature rich as Tadalist or other commercial alternatives, its definately a handy utility. Especially considering the fact that Gmail is one of those web applications people keep open all the time at office or home.
